An Academy Sees Red
A curtain of semi-transparent copper in chequer-board design provides the new Bank Academy in Istanbul with strategic insight. On board: SORST Streckmetall.
For the internal training of its employees, the Yapi Credit Bank expanded its headquarters in Istanbul through the addition of a new academy building. The conspicuous project in ultra-modern architecture is characterised by a veiling façade cladding of expanded copper metal. The façade comes particularly to life in radiant sunlight. The TEGET architects were enthusiastic concerning the deployment of expanded metal in this project, particularly due to the material-friendly manufacturing techniques as well as the subsequent unproblematic forming of the product. The chequer-board effect was created through the reflexion of sunlight by the contorted expanded metal mesh. When the cassettes are turned through 180 degrees, a shadow effect is created and they appear darker. Expanded metal is full of surprises!
