Acoustic Ceiling Lining
The Canary Wharf Station is an underground railway station in the London Docklands and commands the largest passenger capacity of all underground stations in London. The architects, Foster and Partners, allowed themselves to be led by the design principles of clear circulation, durability and low maintenance costs for the deployed materials.
In the service counter hall of the underground station it can sometimes be extremely loud. For this reason, expanded metal sheets were installed above the ticket counters in order to reduce the noise levels. Our subsidiary in England, The Expanded Metal Company, deployed a medium duty, flat-rolled expanded metal mesh from galvanised material with an optimal free cross-sectional area which allowed acoustic noise to be absorbed by the material installed behind the mesh.
